Quick summary

We collect account info, chat messages, and usage data to run the service. We never store payment card details — those go directly to our payment processor. We don't sell your data and we don't use your chats to train AI models. You can request deletion of your data anytime by emailing us.

01 — Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash)
  • Student profile: optional aviation details you provide (certificate goal, flight hours, home airport, aircraft, flight school) used to personalize AI responses
  • Chat data: messages, AI responses, and file attachments (PDFs, images) you share during conversations
  • Documents: files you upload (POH manuals, syllabi, etc.), stored privately and used to enhance AI responses
  • Subscription data: your plan tier and subscription status, but not payment card details
  • Usage data: how you interact with the service, including features used, message counts, and device/browser information
  • Cookies: essential session cookies and analytics/advertising cookies to understand site usage

Important: Arien does not collect, store, or process any payment card details or sensitive financial data. All payment information is handled directly by our payment processor.

02 — How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the Arien service
  • To personalize AI instructor responses based on your profile and conversation history
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)

Your messages are sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. Your student profile and conversation context are included in prompts to personalize answers. These providers do not use API inputs to train their models.

Arien is a study aid, not a substitute for certified flight instruction. AI-generated content may contain errors. Always verify critical information with your instructor and official FAA publications.

03 — Data sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: with third-party providers who help us operate the service, including cloud hosting and infrastructure, AI model providers, payment processors, and analytics services. These providers only access data necessary to perform their functions.
  • Compliance with laws: when required by applicable law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

04 — Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections, secure password hashing, and access controls that ensure users can only access their own data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent where applicable

06 — Children's privacy

Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

07 — Data retention and deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing sean@arienaviation.com. We will action deletion requests within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data for legal or compliance reasons.
